It is amazing how animals seem to sense things, even domestic pets seem to havve their "wild" sense still, maybe we have evolved too much?

Animals are a great alert system, we have just need to research this much further. Back when the force 5 tornado struck in Xenia, Ohio my Great Pyrenes was acting very strange, nose up in the air all the time. Now my English Mastiff is acting up for the last several days, has gotten out of his pen area several times and wants in the house, acting scared, have had him 4 years he has never done this

It's odd that just about all animals have this sense of impending disaster but as humans we often disbelieve things right in front of our eyes

I've heard these stories many time over the years too. It's always the same problem - something is coming, but unless you know how to read the signs it goes unnoticed.

Richard´s last blog post..Nepal Has Google Friend Connect

This is an interesting read. I think we will all benefit if science can mimic animal behavior to warn us of disasters. Animals have a way of knowing and it already saved thousand of lives especially those who listened to their pets whenever a disaster is about to occur.

wow. this is a very interesting idea that i've never hear anyone really propose before. i've heard for years about how animals change their behavior before natural disasters, so it only makes sense to harness that phenomenon.
also, if we studied it more maybe we could figure out why this is the case in the first place. is it sounds we can't hear? vibrations we can't feel? interesting stuff indeed....

I already saw that documentary on National Geographic about animals which can detect a disasters like tsunami. Maybe the scientist should analyze more the capacity of animals to detect earthquakes.

Well, that is something to really thing about and work on. I am sure that theory is truth and we scientist should really try to find the way to use more the power of the nature and animals in future.
